19 months, almost!

My child will be 19 months old in just a few short days.  I feel like he's basically a two year old now, though I know he's far from it.  He's a little independent mini man who wanders our house bouncing from toy to toy.  This past week we had a his 18 mo. check up, though it was the fourth time we've visited a medical facility in the last two months.  This kid really tested our parenting skills when twice in the past two and a half months he ran fevers over 103 degrees, causing us to end up in the emergency room when we couldn't bring them down.  After finding out the first one was an ear infection (two days before Thanksgiving!), Liam ended up on antibiotics and things cleared up quickly.  The second time we were told it was viral and waited it out.  All is good now.  

I do have to mention that all these doctors appointments/ER visits have really changed Liam's outlook on medical personnel.  He used to scream bloody murder and thrash his head side to side when someone tried to stick a thermometer in his ear, but he did so well at his well child check, not really protesting at all.  He stepped on the big boy scale and stood still for his height and his weight.  And although the picture below says otherwise, he really did quite well with his shots.  Most of the crying was done afterwards when he saw the band aids and the proof of his pain.  I am seriously so proud of him.  
   

Since my last update on Liam's body, mind, and spirit at 15 months he's changed quite a bit.  Three months is alot in baby time, that's for sure.

15 months

Weight: 30.1 pounds

Height: 32 inches long

Head Circumference: 18 inches 'round

Clothes Size: anywhere from 18 mo to 3t (I know, it's quite a range, but it depends on the brand!)

Diaper Size: 5

Shoe Size: 5

Teeth: 6 (4 bottom, 2 top)

Teeth: almost 10 (those molars are almost through)

Just as I did in my last post about Liam's growth and development, I have been keeping an eye on Babycenter's checklist to see where my boy stands developmentally.  Since my last post he has achieved almost everything on the 13-18 month checklist except for saying "shhhh" (we don't really do this) and showing signs of toilet training readiness.  I think we are still far from that!  In a couple more months I will go through the 19-24 month checklist.   

Eating
Liam's still eating basically everything we eat.  No peanut butter, nuts, or shellfish yet though.  He has been interested in more vegetables, which pleases Mama and Dada and he's really branching out with eating different types of meat, other than chicken.   

Speaking
Liam can say at least 26 words that most people would understand.  These are words he uses regularly such as dog, elmo, mama, dada, car, duck, up, hat, off, no, more, boo, moo, clock, out.  Also on the list are: eyebrow, onion, elbow, and dough, though this doesn't mean he's going around the house saying "onion!" all the time.  I keep two lists on my phone of all the words he can say that are understandable to others (some of those which I just listed) and then another list of about 30+ words that probably only my husband and I can understand.  For example: "ark" for shark, "angel" sounds like "angle", horse and house kind of sound the same, and so on.  He also says a few phrases like "uh oh", "oh no", and "all done".  

Sleeping
Liam still sleeps through the night, though he sure is having a hell of a time going down.  He's been protesting getting into his crib and laying down and usually needs to be talked through it.  We have a nice little bedtime routine that consists of a bath and about a half hour of story time.  Liam still takes only one nap a day for two and a half hours from about 12-2:30 pm.

Other fun stuff
Liam picks up on things so quickly.  When asked he can tell you what sound a dog, cat, duck, horse, cow, fish, and pig make.  He also picked up on the jingle bells tune pretty fast.  

He is quite a responsible little fellow, cleaning up after himself (when asked), sweeping, and vacuuming when needed.  He actually starts to scream and become very upset if I stop sweeping the floor before he decides it is time to be done.  Will this boy stay helpful like this forever?  I sure hope so.  

This child is as active as ever and only breaks to watch a little Elmo, eat, sleep, and have books read to him.  He runs, he can hop, and he likes to do little dances.  We are really in constant "go" mode here and I can tell you that I selfishly look forward to my alone time at the end of the day.  But, then I find myself missing him when he sleeps and wishing that I could sleep next to him all night.  It's pretty much just the constant cycle of a mother's love!
